This quintet has a great deal of harmonic freedom, swing and open-heartedness toward the music. We explore standards and bebop as well as our favorite contemporary folk and pop and Latin tunes.




The Big Bang Big Band
classic dance orchestra with a twist

Tom Abbott leads this imminently danceable 10- piece big band. He favors the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Billy Strayhorn and Fletcher Henderson, but ranges outside of classic swing repertoire to explore the likes of Sun Ra and play his original, super-swingin' compositions.



The Duo and Trio

Joyful, creative takes on classic tunes with one of a number of great musicians I love to work with: guitarists Hiro Honma and Ila Cantor; organists/pianists kAZU and Brad Whiteley, bassist Daniel Foose.

I also work as part of a purely Latin trio, playing music from Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Peru.
